The influence of Glossators and Italian legal practices in the 13th and 14th centuries played a significant role in shaping legal processes, especially within the Church and civil law. By the 13th to 16th centuries, the inquisitorial system became integrated into Germany’s judicial structure, and France saw the rise of procurators playing a key role in the legal system. Lastly, England’s approach to both inquisitions and juries, developed during the 14th to 16th centuries, differed from the continental systems, highlighting distinct legal practices. Biener’s research provides a detailed account of how these systems evolved across Europe, influencing both secular and religious governance.
