Germany, specialist in horror and sci-fi,
and author of scripts for The Wolf Man,
I Walked with a Zombie, and Donovan's
Brain; Catherine Turney, Warner's top
woman writer, author of vehicles for
Bette Davis, Joan Crawford, and Errol
lynn, among them Mildred Pierce.
Almost none of these twelve men and
women have been interviewed at length
in any publication.
The unforgettable stories they tell range

tales of roistering with the Marx
Brothers, drunken shootouts with John
Huston and practical joking with Hitch-
cock, to murderous run-ins with Al
Capone and blacklisting by the right-

ABOUT THE AUTHOR
A graduate of New York University's In
stitute of Film and Television, Lee Server
has written numerous articles, interviews,
and reviews tor such publications as Film
Comment, Take One, and Films in
Review. His credits as a tilmmaker in-
clude a variety of short films and two
full-length documentaries, You Must
Remember This and the forthcoming Ear
ly Hitchcock. He has lived in Europe,
Southeast Asia, and Southern California,
and currently resides in New York City.
