A book like this is not something which just happens. Ton has been gathering suitable material for years and Martin has been writing down funny situations and stories since he joined 314 Squadron. We both had (independently) been thinking about a book, but there is a large distance between thinking and doing.
We met eachother and things started moving as we decided that we should work together. The combined effort resulted in mountain of material which Ton translated in series of cartoons Martin began writing the text, reducing the size of the cartoons and making the lay-out. More than a year this work continued until finally something emerged which looked like a book. As in every project, there were moments of doubt and reflections, but after some tearing up of failures the work continued. 1982 has been the year of THE BOOK for us, but we think it was worth the effort. Therefore we hope you 'll like the rest of this book, but please don't follow the text to the letter. AT C will never forgive us when every- body answers "again" to the question "say again?"
