Meer info
Can a graphic designer be a catalyst for positive change? Green Graphic Design reframes the way designers can think about the work they create, while remaining focused on cost constraints and corporate identity. Simple, eco-innovative changes are demonstrated in all phases of the design process, including:
· Picking projects
· Strategizing with clients
· Choosing materials for manufacture and shipping
· Understanding users
· Picking ink and paper for printing
· Binding
· Packing final products
· Building strong brands
· Working with clients to foster transparency and corporate social responsibility
Fully illustrated and packed with case studies of green design implementation, this reference guide more than inspires; a "sustainability scorecard" and a complete glossary of key terms and resources ensure that anyone in the design field can implement practical green solutions. Green Graphic Design is an indispensable resource for graphic designers ready to look to the future of their business and the environment.

I want to start off this recommendation with an acknowledgement of respect about how Brian and his company Celery Design Collective truly tried to change things in the industry 10 years ago and pioneered this movement. Green Graphic Design is a great introduction to the concepts and practices you can use in your design work to mitigate your environmental impact. The book’s pretty hard to come by unfortunately, a few copies on Amazon, and eBook distribution only. Reading this book 10 years later, it’s clear that some concepts and ideologies discussed in the book were products of their time and have grown outdated with new information, different political tensions and updated research. Regardless, it’s a great beginner read to get you acquainted with the main concepts for Green Graphic Designers to adhere to and to get you thinking more about your environmental impact and the lifecycle of everything you have a hand in creating - is it recyclable? Does it end up in landfill?
